Liz Pascoe:

Founder and Expressive Arts Faciliator of The HeartWork Studio

My creative comfort has always been in theatre, however I was not always comfortable expressing myself. Put a paintbrush in my hand or ask me to draw, and I just closed up. I was a harsh self critic of my visual artwork and I hadn’t even taken pen to paper. For most of my life, I never made marks and I never made visual art. The first time I attended an Expressive Arts Workshop, I felt inspired to pick up a paintbrush and accepted the invitation to play; no worries, just make a mark. I felt elated, free, messy mistakes and all, and like I had just met a new part of myself. With a degree in Theatre, a Certificate in Expressive Arts and almost 20 years of creative group facilitation, I now find the greatest joy in helping others engage with their creative selves, celebrating what comes forward.
